The term "ergonomics" is composed of the Greek words "ergon" for human work and "nomos" for law and order. Ergonomics deals among other things with the adaptation of technology and the working environment to the human being. The aim of ergonomics is to configure the living and working conditions of the human being to further the health of the human being while working and thus sustain the human being's general performance taking into account anatomical, physiological, psychological and physical aspects.

Sitting correctly


Whereas it was previously thought that there is ONE correct sitting posture, today we know that the human being is born to move and should optimally never assume permanent postures. If you are permitted to behave naturally, you never assume such postures, but slightly move all the time. When standing you shift the load from foot to foot, when sleeping you unconsciously move automatically and also when sitting your body has the urge to move even when you WANT to sit still, at a concert, for example. After just a few minutes you change your sitting position, cross your legs to the right and left, fold your arms, lean to one side and then the other...

That is why today dynamic sitting is considered to be the most natural way to sit and therefore the healthiest. Dynamic sitting means that you change your sitting position as often as possible. Sitting should permit you to move your body very slightly all the time. This has both a therapeutic and preventive effect on backache.

The constant changing of sitting posture and position keeps the spinal joints in motion and nourishes the intervertebral discs. By alternating your sitting posture, the intervertebral discs are not loaded on one side and are lubricated and nourished.

Frequent change of posture makes you sit up straight more often, you can breathe deeper and saturate the blood with oxygen. At the same time your muscles are better supplied with the oxygen-saturated blood, the movement activates the circulation throughout your entire body and this also improves your mental performance.
